- You will first be given a tour of the agency where you will meet staff and get a chance to see some of our facilities
- At the end of this tour, you will be given a Board Candidate Packet to take home, read, and consider.
- The Executive Director will call you in about a week after your visit to see if you are still interested. If you would like to proceed, you will be asked to complete and send the a Board Candidate Information Sheet to us or drop it by.
- We will then arrange for you to meet with one or more of our Executive Committee members in a casual setting, like lunch or coffee. This will allow them to get to know you and vice-versa.
- After that meeting, we will present our assessment of your qualifications and the Information Sheet at a Board meeting, or possibly through email to the Board of Directors.
- It is at this point that the Board will vote on your membership, and the Executive Director will call you with the results of the vote.
- If you are accepted as a Board of Directors member, then you will be invited to the next Board meeting, asked to sign the Board Member Statement of Understanding, and will immediately begin receiving Board communication materials. You will additionally be assigned a Board mentor.
Probably one of the most important pieces of information you should know is that our Board meetings are on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in Watsonville.
We hope this information and your visit to Pajaro Valley Shelter Services will lead to a match with your commitment to serve our community and our commitment to end homelessness - one family at a time.
